The New York Latvian Concert Choir, Ņujorkas
latviešu koris, is a non-professional choral group based in Yonkers,
New York, drawing its membership from the tri-state area. While our members are
primarily of Baltic background, the calling of the Latvian musical spirit has
beckoned others to join us as well!
Founded in 1975, our choir has been devoted to performing masterpieces
of Latvian choral, operatic and symphonic literature, and traditional folk
music. Our choir also regularly commissions and premiers new works by Latvian
composers.
Our choir first traveled to Latvia during the Soviet occupation. Since
Baltic independence we have returned to Latvia numerous times to perform and to
record. We also regularly participate in the Latvian "Dziesmu Svētki", or
Song Festivals, held in Latvia and abroad.
Our 2024–2025 Season
The 2024–2025 season marks our 50th!
We successfully concluded our 2023–2024 season with our Spring Concert, after which many members participated in the XVI Latviešu Dziesmu svētki Kanadā, the XVI Latvian Song and Dance Festival in Canada, taking place in Toronto, July 4th–7th.
Plans for this season include our annual Advent and Spring Concerts. See "Events" for further details on our Advent Concert announcement.
Rehearsals generally take place Sundays, at 11:15, at the Latvian Lutheran Church in Yonkers. Updates are distributed weekly to members via Email. Please contact us if you are interested in joining.

On November 17th at the New Jersey Latvian center Priedaine, we celebrated Latvia’s 106th birthday! We were joined by talented youth from the NY dance groups Jumalīte and Jumis. Led by our conductor Laura Padegs Zamurs, we sang from our hearts for our dear Latvia.
